Artsakh and Lake Sevan
 

  During the Zakarian Dynasty, art and writing flourished in Northeast Armenia. Khachen in particular managed to remain relatively independent from the Mongols.

 

From the 1224 Gospels from Artsakh. This miniature blends both simple folk art design with a luxurious gold background, close in feel to the Siunik style.
