Beginning January 1, 2014
Mileage Reimbursement Rate Drops to 56 cents Per Mile

The State mileage reimbursement rate will drop from 56.5 cents per mile to 56 cents per mile on January 1, 2014.  This rate change will cover any mileage reimbursement associated to travel occurring after December 31, 2013, until a new mileage reimbursement rate is set. The Internal Revenue Service set the mileage reimbursement rate, and state law does not allow agencies to reimburse more than the IRS limit.

Improving Child/Youth Placement Outcomes: A System Redesign

UPDATE: November 8, 2013

DFPS announced a tentative contract award on November 8, 2013 to ACH Child and Family Services as the single-source continuum contractor (SSCC) to provide foster care and related services in the southwest portion of Region 3, which includes Tarrant, Palo Pinto, Parker, Johnson, Hood, Somervell and Erath counties.

This is the second area of the state that will transition into the new Foster Care Redesign system. DFPS will begin negotiation with the tentative awardee immediately and will provide additional information once the negotiations are complete and a final contract is awarded.

DFPS recognized that children and youth are too often placed outside of their home communities, leaving behind family, friends, schools, church, homes and their support system. Through Foster Care Redesign, DFPS seeks to:
  • Promote positive outcomes for children, youth and families
  • Improve the overall process and quality of care
  • Align incentives with process and quality indicators in a manner that encourages the development of services in locations where they are needed
The first Foster Care Redesign contract was awarded in December 2012 to Providence Service Corporation; that contract was for a catchment area that encompassed DFPS Regions 2 and 9.
