Yerevan's First Hostel Opens (October 2005) Yerevan's first Eureopean style Hostel, "Envoy Hostel" has just opened, finally bringing clean, affordable accomodation to the capital city.
At 5000 AMD (7000 AMD for 2006 season), which includes breakfast, this is the best deal you will find. As with all hostels, beds are in dormitory rooms (4 and 8 per room), but they are clean, and the common room brings guests together in a warm, comfortable atmosphere. In addition there are two private suites (double bed) with separate entrances at 20,000 AMD.
Facilities include personal lcokers, 24 hour reception, laundry facilities serviced internal cafe, tea/cofee facilities, common room for meals, baggage holding, internet access (pay for usage), Airport transfer and pickup, car/minibus rental (w/driver), functions and games, central heating and 24 hour hot/cold water supply. They can also arrange village stays and tours.
Since it is new, everything is immaculate and in good order. The host, Eric, should do a great job in keeping it so, as enthusiasic as he is about the new setting.
This may not be for everytone, but you can't beat the price, and you will actually find service better than some of the so-called 5-star digs.
