Airlines: There are about a dozen airlines serving Armenia from Europe, the Middle East and the CIS. For a list and details, see airline companies.

Airports:
International Flights between Yerevan and Europe, the Middle East and CIS flights originate at Zvartnotz International Airport.

Inner-Armenia, Helicopter and CIS flights originate at Erebuni Airport in Yerevan, at Shirak Airport in Giumri and Stepanavan. Most flights outside the CIS are in the bleary-eyed hours of the morning, but your arrival at destinations give you at least half a day to recuperate.

Ticket and Pricing
International (outside the CIS) flights have a single pricing tier. For CIS (internal) flights, there are two levels of pricing air ticket, one for Armenian and CIS member state Citizens, and one for "Others" (foreigners). Prices quoted are based on Bilateral Fares at the time of writing.

Fares for outside-in travel vary widely, depending on when you buy, type of fare and which agent you use. Local airlines have 35 Day, 60 Day, 90 Day, 3 month and 6 month excursion fares, which are cheaper than the Y class (good for one year).

Example R/T fare between the USA and Armenia are anywhere from $650 to $3500 for the same ticket, and from $490-$3500 Europe-Armenia RT (depending on season and type of fare). See Fare Watch for up to date prices

Discount Online
Avoid the big airline web sites, especially British Airways (Mediterranean), which is sky high at up to $3500 for regular COACH. Better to buy in pairs: USA-London, then London-Yerevan. Also forget about Piriceline, Orbitz or CheapTickets, which load the high bilateral fares.

Yes, do try some of the agents for Armenia: www.LevonTravel.com & MigTravel have been offering some competitive deals lately.

Also look at flying via Amsterdam or Paris for the cheaper rate pairing a western airline with local service (Armavia in Amsterdam, Armenian International in Paris). See our Fare Watch page for places to start.

Prices are expected to continue dropping well into 2005, cutting anticipated growth for next Summer. Aeroflot will continue to be the airline to give the best discount on regular airfare to Yerevan. They also use an Airbus 320 for flights into Yerevan.
