Surprisingly basic renovation of Old Hotel Armenia completed in 2004 has yielded the Marriott name, some kind of standards, but not much more.  The Coca Cola awnings in the front explains pretty much everything: this is an American Armenian dream: tacky but comfortable.    High-end rooms on the Repulic Square side have it all:  individual climate control, balconies, 8-inch foam king-size mattress, Wi Fi, work desk with adapter for telephone-PC use, satellite TV including international news and sports, pay-per-view movies, direct telephone lines, voice mail, mini bar, walk-in closets, bath tub with all the bathroom amenities, etc.   Rooms on back end have less features, but all are clean and comfortable.  All areas are wheelchair accessible for disabled. Was once open to anyone at a cheap rate, now a cash cow for the university, run by one of the most arrogant managers we have come across. The hotel is clean with pleasing art work on the walls, and a pleasant atmosphere (once you get past the manager). It has 55 rooms: up to 5 beds per room with common bath/toilet, or 1-2 room doubles with bath/toilet. Manager requests at least 1 month request by fax, they will then reply with availability and required documents. In winter it is worth a walk-in risk as they aren't always full. Four rooms with four beds per room, dormitory style. Breakfast not included. Priced at AMD 600 per bed. If you want privacy, rent all four beds and break your bank at 2400 AMD.
