Part of the Tufenkian Heritage Hotels, a growing enterprise of luxury lodgings set within traditional Armenian decor and surroundings. Compare to Avan Villa in Yerevan.  Indoors pool, gym, spa,restaurant, conference center, internet connection.  Making reservations is quirky: you have to call first and have a fax machine to receive an order form, then fax ack and wait for confirmation.  Hopefully will improve system.  Venue is expensive but gorgeous. Dilijan

If all fails, go to Getik at the edge of the city, and ask for Kima. She's the matron of the restaurant, and probably knows of a room to spare in town. The food at Getik is well worth a visit, too! Basically clean, linen is clean, but you may want to do a once over yourself on the facilities, 24/hr hot water, room heating. Breakfast included. 2 room/3 room at $10-15 per person. Cinematographer’s House Inexpensive - Moderate Located just off the river road, on the way to Lake Parz . Tel: (2720) 61-39, 27-10) Res. The rooms in the main building are dreary, but the cottages are unique and airy. Needs a once over, but still a cabin in the woods feel. Prices for DBL/Cottages are $20/50 with all meals. Other Pensions (Holiday Homes) are located throughout the area. Some run down, but others making a come back. As at the Mayor's Office for recommendations, and be persistent. They are trying to organize a local tour service bureau, but don't always know it.

Ijevan

Berd

Berd Hotel Cheap (0 stars) 3 story building on the square. Tel: (374-67) 2-10-81, Res. Tel: (3741) 54-18-18, 54-29-00, Fax: (3741) 54-54-60 Hotel is worn at the fringes, there is a shortage of amenities, no hot water except by buckets, water by buckets. But set in one of the most beautiful areas in Armenia. This is a camping trip anyway. You can rough it at AMD 1500 per person.
